Now I know this will be a contentious question and everyone is allowed their opinion so I am prepared for any flak that comes my way. Is it worth taking out an NRA membership and if so what are the benefits for me as a recreational shooter and stalker? I live close enough to Bisley where I could make a day trip of it but not so close I could go over on a whim. My home range is only 100 Meters (and is predominantly a sporting rifle club) so would be nice to have access to longer range shooting and other disciplines. Any constructive advice or feedback welcome. I am basically looking to expand my horizons a little.

I can't see why you should get any flak for asking a question, my view ( counts for nothing) is that it's a good idea to join the N.R.A , as it allows you to shoot on the ranges, get insurance cover and the best bit, moan and groan about the bogs

If you want to book targets as an individual to shoot at Bisley then it is worth the money.

If you don't then it isn't.

If you want to shoot multiple disciplines at anything from 25 to 1200 yards with like minded shooters and can easily get to Bisley without a 3 hour trek then yes I would say it was worth it. Once in the NRA you can join the NRASC (NRA Shooting Club) which is free to join and share targets or meet up with some of the forum members again to share costs or book a target for yourself.

If you live within easy travelling of Bisley it is well worth it for the ability to book a range, go to NRA SC days, and you get the insurance cover as well. Not perhaps the cheapest way to get the insurance, I agree.

I could see that if you live up north somewhere, the NRA is too Bisley centric to have as much appeal. Fortunate for the NRA then that Bisley is so central in the Home Counties.

If you want to do your bit to protect your sport join the NRA...or the BASC. Either will do.

I am a member of the NRA but wasnt for years.
The way I look at it is what would you,or any of us, do if Bisley folded?
By becomimg a member you do,in theory,have a say in the running of it.
I am lucky in only living 20 minutes drive away so shoot there alot.
Better the devil you know perhaps!
You may find yourself shooting there more if you were a member.

As a Scots shooter, millions of miles from Bisley, with no intention of ever shooting there, is there any benefit to me??????????

I am a member of BASC as a stalker it made sense to join them. I think I will take a look at the NRA as well would be nice to maybe meet a few forum members and put names to faces etc.

As a Lancastrian I'm not far short of a million miles from Bisley but I want to support a voice that speaks for shooting. As mag41 says I'd be distraught if Bisley closed although I only get there twice a year.

Personally; I know that if my FAC was ever in danger I could call on the NRA to back me up.
