Fun with pistols in the US

#1 Post by judders »

I'm visiting a friend in Dallas and was lucky enough to get some time at the range with a couple of his pistols. Thought I'd share a few pictures.

I put about 200 rounds each through his Beretta 96FS .40 cal and Glock 9mm. Such good fun and such a shame we're not allowed pistols like that here. The Glock was super-easy to shoot and be fairly accurate. The Beretta was a lovely pistol, but I found the extra recoil made it harder to be so accurate.

The next day we bumped into a friend who had a Smith & Wesson 500, what a beast that is! He said we could take it to the range, but the schedule wouldn't have worked. Gutted. Fingers crossed for next time on that one.

All this has got me seriously considering a variation and a LBR....

Looks like you're having lots of fun!

I came back from the US and changed my .22 rifle slot for an LBP and enjoy my Pro TSC 1911 .22 greatly, it's not quite the same but very close.

tongueout Personally i wouldn't want to shoot that .500, seen too many near miss videos with them, the double/vertical discharge being the worst :o

This sort of thing;

The double vertical discharge....

Here's a robber shooting himself in the head with a double discharge and it looks like a 38. Around 2.17

I'm not a recoil hard lad but you've got to be a canny limpwrister to do that with a .38 :o :lol:

The owner of the S&W 500 is around 6' 6" and 25 stone, so it suits him well. I've seen the youtube clips of the 500 before, but I'd still jump at the chance to shoot it, but perhaps I'd ask him to put a single round in!

I'm definitely going to explore the LBR options further when I get back...
