Thanks Ian, a simple holding reply to me in January would have been fine.

Obviously the staffing cutbacks have made the organisation a shadow of its formal self and its ability to respond is severly diminshed, not to me but on important issues like the proposed Scottish legislation.

In all business's communication is the Key and the NRA seem to have lost that capacity to the detriment of itself and its membership.

Ho hum it just seems like more of the same old, same old. I'm not knocking the staff here this has to be a senior management, trustees and council issue.

When will be seeing the organisations priorities as I assume with the lack of capacity prioritisng and targets is even more crucial than ever?

I understand what you say Christel but Alex is at Bisley an awfull lot ( he lives quite close to Bisley) yet has never had the gumption or stamina to have a face to face meeting with any of the executives. Alex will winge in the Range Office and insult members of staff (both of which I have personally witnessed) but when offered a chance to meet in person with executives he has always declined. He will listen to rumours and actively pass them on, without making any affort to find the truth. I have known Alex for many years and take an awfull lot of what he says with a large pinch of salt.

I do not want a face to face meeting because I do not want to find them later denying what was said, nor do I want the trouble of having to write the "minutes" and then have their accuracy questioned. Besides, if we all went for a face to face meeting the management of NRA would not have much time to do anything else. A letter/email is kinder for the recipient, because he can read it when he has time; gather information and show it to colleagues before replying. To be frank, I would have thought that you knew all this and that a clarification was unnecessary.

I am not sure what you expect to achieve with all that rubbish about "not having gumption and whingeing"! Do you think that anything good will be achieved by attempting to discredit the questioner! Do you actually know what you are doing? I have not met Mercer, but I have met de Havilland, Jackman, Pizer, Jeremy Staples, Glynn Alger and other senior people. I do not want to be a nuisance to any of them, but I have never hesitated to criticise and my criticism is always carefully considered and written in a way that it cannot be misinterpreted. When I hear a rumour I always try to find the truth and the letter to Pizer was such an effort.

How long ago did you send the letter?

The email was sent 3 days ago. Mercer has replied and I got it late this evening. Some good news and some bad and not a good example of "public relations" with the membership. I will post it here tomorrow.

Three days seems perfectly reasonable especially if you know how much Mr. Mercer has on his plate.

Once again I fear that 'we' have gone off half cock acting on rumours.

If we all sent emails to any organisation, nothing would get done.

Your area rep is (should be) your first point of contact, we should be channeling our communications on such matters though her/him.

Having a rant on here does no good other than make me feel better (as it did yesterday)

When I want to know whst is happening at the NRA I ask my first point of contact; which is what I did over this matter.

I am told that the land is not being sold but changes are being made.

How long have we been complaining about the LACK of change at Bisley?

Some people will never be satisfied, will never compromise - sighs in exasperation.

I would like to point out that it has now been since the 19th of February with no reply from Andrew Mercer, my first email was forwarded by Heather on the 18th re this article.

I have since asked if Andrew Mercer is the correct person to ask and I have been told that it is. So the correct person is not responding.
He is busy, I know. Not sure what to say really.

Maybe he hasn't got an answer yet - I would imagine he will have to check quite a few things with others before he can reply to some issues.

I would cut him some slack until he has been in post a lot longer

I think what this really is about is that the system is not working 100%...it is nothing personal. I have never met Andrew Mercer, no one has said anything bad about him to me.

What would be in order is perhaps an automatic reply so at least I know the email got there. Or Andrew Mercer replying...I'll get back to you.

Silence is very upsetting...is that the word? Well I guess it is...upsetting...
