Short answer is yes - might need a bit of work but certainly doable.

For those that don't know, I am Chairman of the Young Shooters Fund which gives out interest free loans for equipment to young shooters. We have helped quite a few young shooters over the past 13 years (including one who went on to win the Queen's Prize!).

It is not limited to TR and any discipline can apply but the recipient must be an NRA member (oh and as there is a 3 year free membership scheme in existence there is very little excuse for youngsters not to join the NRA).

There have been problems along the way (and no Alex I was not using the Fund to pay my rent  ) but it appears these have been ironed out and we are looking forward to being able to help a lot more youngsters in the future. We have a committee of five who approve the loans and applications should be made on behalf of a youngster by a club secretary/captain/regional rep or someone similar.

Full details can be found at

However more money or kit is always welcome so if anyone rich is feeling a bit peaky please leave us a sizeable donation in your will :good:

Excellent work Karen. I didnt know about that - but I do now.

So if I could persuade the CSR/Practical Rifle community to engage with this idea.....that would be an acceptable discipline?

If it isn't, it should be, all disciplines should be acceptable.

If the Act allows it we should be doing it.
