I had always wanted to see proper snow. When my nephew was born I was told that when he was old enough he would go to see Santa in Lapland. My family went out to celebrate my 40th birthday and I was presented with a calendar with a date marked on it and told to keep it free. The family had clubbed together to buy me a ticket for a day trip.
Had a great day, skidoo from the airport, sleigh ride, dog, sled ride, reindeer skin and antler bought in the shop to bring home.

I would like to point out that Santa lives in Greenland.

Bit of a sad reason behind it. I was born on my dad's birthday and this was my first without him, sort of trying to make it easier for me. :)
I would love to go back, (not to see Santa) but bnz can't do that sort of cold.

That can't be easy.

David is the same, do not like the cold. Thing is there is a difference to what cold is. British cold is sooooo cold and wet and it gets all the way into your bones.
Cold further north is cold but not like that. I have walked happily home from school in minus 30 degrees centigrade and only worn a microfleece top and trousers. Moon boots of course. Hat and gloves. It is because it is a dryer climate.
