Dougan.. what questions would you have asked usflag.gif
Well as it's what I'd consider an old school TR rifle, was wondering if you were going to use it as it is, or whether you were going to convert it in some way - So, I was going to ask if you were going to shoot it TR style with a jacket, sling and glove...then I looked at the pictures, some of which could have been taken at Bisley...so apologies for my ignorance of American TR shooting.

Great looking facility by the way! tongueout

Thank you Dougan

Our range accommodates up to 1000 yard shooting. The firing points for 600 and 1000 yards are the same. We have MidRange and LongRange matches at the same time.

We host matches for Across the Course (200 yard slow fire standing, 200 yard rapid fire sitting, 300 yard rapid fire prone and 600 yard slow fire prone) MidRange, (600 yards) LongRange, (1000 yards) and PALMA (800, 900, 1000 yards)

We have F-Open, F-TR, PALMA, Match rifle, and Service rifle shooters. With the exception of F-Open and F-TR, all the other shooters use jackets, sling and glove.

The old timers at the club are trying to get me to shoot sling and irons. I shoot F-Open for MidRange and LongRange. I have an AR-15 I use for XTC matches. This 1200TX will get me started in sling and iron sight MidRange, LongRange and PALMA shooting.

I plan on using the 1200TX as-is, for now. I will eventually put on a better globe sight, a 3-way adjustable butt and when the barrel needs replaced, a longer barrel.

Our first match of this season is Saturday (PALMA) and Sunday is our MidRange / LongRange match. The weather is not going to be very pleasant with a high temp of 38F. We have a little snow on the ground today. If all goes well, I may shoot the 1200TX this weekend.

I have loaded some 155gr (2156 Sierra) with 45gr Varget seated with .040 jump.

Your load almost replicates mine in my P-H M82 which is almost the same but for the Kahles scope. I also load 42grs of Vhitav. 140 which delivers 2750 fps and great accuracy. The barrels are hammer forged and very long lived.

Good shooting but don't use that duff bolt ! :goodjob: :wales: :flag6:

Armalon in the uk can supply a direct replacement barrel made on the same machines that made yours and mine.

I shot the PALMA match on Saturday and LongRange on Sunday. Temperature was only 35F and windy.

I will need to work up my loads, as I was only using 45gr Varget.

Somebody brought a chronograph and Im averaging 2807 FPS. I am going to increase to 46gr and work my way up to 46.5gr and see how the numbers and if any pressure signs.

So far I am liking this old school target rifle. This is my first attempt using irons and sling for matches.
