spotting scope

Hi all. im looking to invest in the above,i shoot at ponteland range mainly up to 300 yards.
I have abudget of about £150.so can any one advise me on what spotter to get.
ive seen acouple on line which seem good value.
but thought I would ask for some advice first
the ones ive seen are
1st. kowa tns2 20-40x60
2nd.barska straight spot scope.20-60x60.

We had a Kowa 80 and never used it however it was a superb spotting scope even if it did sit in a cupboard. These days I have a 40X that came from Lidles for around the GBP25 mark, I picked it up on a whim and it is actually quite reasonable given the price.

I use an opticron mighty midget, fitted with a good eyepiece I have spotted sand splash at 1000 yards. Makes a reasonably compact unit when packed down. If you want to try some scopes out its worth looking for a local bird spotting reserve, they often have optical retailers that visit and sell used optics.

It's more or less the same with all optics - buy Chinese as cheap as you can or, cry once and buy a good one - like the Kowa.

If you just want to see a spotting-disc on the target, a Chinese jobby will do it. If you want to see bullet-holes at 600 yards, then you need good glass.

Buy the Kowa it will last a lifetime. 90% of TR shooters use them.
