A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

I'm erring towards a Savage BVSS in .308 for the first. Probably with a Fox 8-32x50 scope and a Harris bipod at least initially.
Not sure which height of bipod would be best for prone target shooting, I'm quite small (5'7"). Is it worth having the swivel base?

Re: The wait begins
The BVSS is a cracking rifle and yes, the swivel base is worth the extra money as it gives you some cant which is handy unless you only shoot off benches.
Re: The wait begins
Hope it goes quick - I know what it's like to be on the wrong end of a six month wait!

Re: The wait begins
Hi and welcome,
Noticed your in Surrey, for info I'm also in Surrey. It took 20 days from application received to holding the cert in my hands and that included posted times as well.
Cant speak highly enough of them.
Whats on your wish list?

Re: The wait begins
I come under the Met. FEO suggested it would be 4 weeks or so. Thus far its been a very straightforward process. If they all come through:
7.62/.308 with moderator - the Savage
5.56/.223 with moderator - not sure yet
7.62x54R - Mosin
.38/.357 - Marlin
.22 - semi auto not sure what yet
.22 - something for 25yd prone
