A 600fps gun at .22 is legal in the UK at around 11-12 ft-lbf.

The manufacturers claim it is dangerous within 500yards ... a pellet normal (non-FAC) air rifle will sting at 100 yards but not penetrate skin and by 150 it has probably hit the floor. There is no way that it could reach 200 yards let alone 500 - unless fired directly down off a cliff face and even then it would not hurt after 150 yards.

Yeah that looks at lot fun! - I used to love the M16 BB guns at fairs; the ones connected to an air hose...the rate of fire was silly!

A friend pulled a .22 air gun pellet out of a target frame today...it had nearly got all the way through (2.5 inches approx)...I'm not sure what distance it was fired from (may have been close, as the butts there is a great place for bunnies), but would a normal air rifle penetrate that far?

From 20metres possibly, or for a full FAC air rifle then at 50 to 80 metres it could do.
