Gunsmith for custom shotgun work?

#1 Post by CDM5 »

Hi all,

I'm looking to have some custom work done to a Marlin .410 lever action, trying to find a gunsmith that can do the work.

Work will include:
Barrel shortened and possibly threaded for chokes.
Moderator sleeve machined to fit over the bore.
Receiver drilled and tapped for rail.
Magazine tube shortened.

Now, will cutting the barrel down so it's a cylinder bore be a problem with a 9" moderator at the end?

Can't see it being a problem in general terms - in what sense did you think it could be a problem?

BTW Why not do some of the work yourself? I shortened the barrel and magazine tube on my 357 Winchester - wasn't a difficult job. Also, isn't the receiver already drilled and tapped? I'm sure I've read that it was.

PJS Precision might be worth a try. PM CormieAckImp for details.
