You can disable the lever that turns the target manually, and to stop the target at a given distance you could just turn the power off as it reaches the distance you want (could be a bit tricky to get right first time)...

...but it's more likely that 'Pocket pistol' would be shot on one of the other bays, where you would walk forward to the 10m line...

When I first shot the advancing man comp in classic pistol the targets were advanced by a man cranking a handle next to you !

Course I'm ancient so I would remember -- I won classic pocket pistol back in the day at the Pistol AD comps.

Righty, so it looks like I've put 2 and 2 together to get 5 then. Wasn't the first time and probably won't be the last!
