I have had similar issues. I contacted Garlands about it and they spoke to Sig who asked that I send them my rifle to be looked at. I too have a sharp lip from the feed ramp into the chamber as can be seen from the attached picture. I sent the pic to Garlands who were quite surprised by it. Am waiting to hear back from Garlands but they have only had my rifle for a few days.

So my rilfe is due back to me today. Looking forward to taking it to the range and seeing if the work Garlands has done on it has solved the feed issue I was having. Will post results when I have them.

So have the Sig back though wont get to shoot it till this weekend. Below are before and after pics of the work the feed ramp and chamber.

As can be seen the ramp looks to have been polished and the lip ground down. Garlands have been really helpful throughout and worked with Sig to get this issue resolved for me, their Smith has said that the rifle functions without feed issues now (though I wont know till I put some rounds down at the weekend) I can not fault the service provided by Garlands who carried out work free of charge at the request of Sig Sauer.

Range report to follow.

Hi,

I have the same feeding problem (failure to fully chamber). Raybrown, did the fix work? Not overly happy about filing metal away from a new rifle though, and from that Zimmer said on his first post on this thread Garlands has already attempted to bevel the sharp edge at the top of the feed ramp.

Cheers,

Chris

Some pics, you can see the damage caused by the sharp chamber edge.

Looks like I'll be getting the file out also.

That's exactly what I was getting. I haven't had a chance to run but a couple mags through the rifle yet seemed to function ok. I am going to strip it and clean it and hopefully put a few hundred rounds through it. I would contact Garlands and see what they can do for you. I am hoping this sorts the issue. If it doesn't I may take the rifle to an dependent gun smith for them to assess and take it from there.

I think I've found the problem. Its the magazine position in the lower receiver. If I push up on the magazine whilst cycling rounds manually (or when firing), every single round chambers fine, with virtually no damage to the lead bullets. I bought another Sig mag to try, and its exactly the same (in that it'll only feed reliably if I push up on the mag), so I'm thinking that there may well be a bad batch of SIG 522's with dodgy lower receivers.

I'll be taking it to Garlands for inspection next week, or ideally replacement.

Let me know what Garlands say. I have had a look at a mates 522 over the weekend and his most definitely does not have the noticeable lip between the feed ramp and the chamber. I suspect it may be when you push the magazine up and hold it you are lifting it just enough for each round to clear the lip. An easy way to test your theory would be to have someone with a 522 that has no issue and swap lowers to test.

Would PM you but not sure you can get or send pm's yet I think there is a minimum post count.

Shoot me an email to raybrown53@gmail.com if you want to share what garlands offer privately (looking at you pics I wonder if your rifle and mine are from a similar batch)

Email sent - rifle is back with Garlands. I don't hold up much hope, there must be a bad batch out there as some people report that theirs will feed anything, and then there are others that cant get the rifle to feed anything with 99% reliability.
