Buying Ruger Mags from USA
Having tracked down some AR15 shaped mags for my Ruger SR 10-22 the supplier is unable to fulfil the order because of US legislation on export of gun magazines.
I have a contact Stateside that would take delivery of them to send on, but I am assuming that this is still questionable.
Does anyone have any experience on getting around this without having the CIA knocking on the door?
I would prefer to do it in a legit' way.

Re: Buying Ruger Mags from USA
Salut,
Some parts are out-right ITAR banned and trying to obtain them could get you and your US friend into troubles . However I do not think 22Lr mags are subject to ITAR. The added problem seems to be that some US retailers dont have export licence which prevent them to sell abroad not ITAR banned items.
Have you tried Brownells ?
They have shipped me 22lr mags in the past . They dont do econnmy postage but it is still a big saving on the same order from a UK retailer.
For mags the order had to be bellow $ 100 not to require an export licence.
Brownells was happy to do it and it was perfectly legal.

...also, magazines of 10rd & under capacity are exempt from ITAR

Unfortunately they were 25 round that l wanted for mini-rifle.
The supplier tried his best to find a way but we decided it was probably best to cancel the order, which is what l did.
He did say to try again in the NewYear as there may be changes to the export rules.
Thanks for your suggestions.

E-mail Brownells or try this place: KeepShooting.com. Nice people to do business with and if there is a way for them to do it they will.>>>>You know what? I am going to call them and ask if they can ship to the UK. Might have an answer for you in 10-18 hours.
Re: Buying Ruger Mags from USA
Zilberbak: Well, you can forget KeepShooting.com. Just got off the phone with customer service and her company will not send anything to a foreign country, in part because of ITAR and also because of an incident the company had a while back. It seems a customer in the UK ordered a flare projector (pistol) which KeepShooting.com sent without cartridges of course. The customer then threatened a neighbor with the flare projector/pistol and the police were called. The UK then sent British police to the States to investigate the matter and the owner of KeepShooting.com had to make a video tape for the British prosecution team. So, no more sales "across the pond."

Thanks for all.the suggestions and info.
The supplier was Iron Eagle Tactical run by a really helpful guy Larry Salsman. He even rang me to let me know what was going on. He said that towards the end of the year there may be a departmental change in the states letting us have access to the bits that are currently restricted.
