Can easily organise local contacts for you in the North East to get you going. What facilities does your club range have?
I am the chairman of a 25yrd 5 lane indoor range in Durham. Around 100 members shooting classic rifle, bench rest, BP pistol, centre fire offhand, sporting rifle offhand, prone, air rifle and pistol amongst others.
We would love to host a gallery rifle demo day/evening, would also be willing to offer attendance to other clubs as well depending on demand.

I started to shoot 22lr "friendly" 1500 in my club and other funny courses of fire with combination of plates, bobing targets but also some stupid light bulbs that I can hardly see in my iron sights, mixed DP targets for hostage/foe scenario and very un-PC "belgium targets" even if I suspect there are really French targets but ... Any way, next, I am pretty sure I'll try from weak shoulder standing on my head while scratching my left nostril. To be fair ... I have not had so much fun shooting in ages
BTW , did the Rostbif trash the Krauts and Paddys ?

The tournament is this weekend coming.
I think Froggy wants to know about the European F-class Championships, team events held in a howling gale on the morning of Sunday 3 Novemeber. And yes, the Rosbifs won both Open and F-TR. I have a vague memory that the Spaniards and Italians didn't do too badly. Results should be on the UK F-class Association website.

Hmm - interesting....
What can be done to alleviate this do you think? We split many of the events into classes so people don't have to worry about hitting 300s in T&P1 etc - you just compete against the same people in your class.
I'm not sure why people are scared to compete, but it's an area that needs addressing - We have turning targets at one of my clubs, and can practice most courses of fire (as long as it's 25 yards) and do hold our version of T&P1 and The Americas match.
I've tried T&P1 at the Phoenix for the last 4 years but still haven't scored better than a 299 (so the 'class' system is working for me) - Being honest though, I've always looked at the 1500 as 'one for the pros' so haven't considered it...maybe I might now...
There's another problem though with Gallery rifle - I missed the 'pistol era' so don't know any different, but I get the distinct impression that a lot of previous pistol shooters are still so jaded that they don't want to really get back into it again...which is a shame as it sounded fun...
I'd say there is a thought that Bisley is only for the top shots up around these parts anyway.Perhaps there's not enough knowledge of the class system meaning you can compete at your own level. But to be honest it can be hard enough to get guys to show up for the inter club shoots never mind a 500 mile trip south.
Jaded may be a good way of putting it,trying to drum up some interest isn't easy.
I was a regular 1500 pistol shooter at Bisley and some of the major comps were awesome.
The prize tables alone were staggering, many pistols and much leatherwork.
Its a pity that more people dont give it a go as I think the entries are dropping at the Bisley comps.
And I do believe cost is a major issue at these events.
I havent shot in any for a few years and I only have to drive 30 minutes to get there!
I would like to see a gallery rifle training weekend at Bisley,in summer,to encourage people to have a try without any pressure.
I would like the NRA to do this as a loss leader to make it attractive.
Charge, say £40 for all day on Melville and include lunch.
I would give a day to help out for a free lunch!
Just my thoughts and slightly off topic.

The rising costs of the gr events at bisley is causing much ill feeling amongst the gr regulars, many are staying away simply because of the costs (which are less than half bisley price at local club run open comps), the 1500 is not for top shooters its for all, sure there are some rude folk and clicky folk at these events but there is im sure thst sort of behaiviour within most shooting disciplines...most regular shooters of 1500 dont shoot the shorts as they are so expensive....some say the gr circuit is about to implode into red tape and petty power struggles, well im sure thats not the case, gr has some good people in it ,neil francis and john robinson do an excellent job, but the events at bisley are consistently being less well attended whilst clubs open comps entrants are growing....food for thought...I hope the nra either pull their finger out or a new gr association is formed like the npa..
When someone says "it's not about the money" you know what? it probably is all about money!
