Sig 522 feed problem

Zimmer, this is a known issue with a specific batch of 522s. Garlands (the importers) know all about it and you need to speak to your RFD who will organise a replacement for you via Garlands.

I tried 5 different mags and 5 different types of ammo before mine went back to be replaced. Then as (bad) luck would have it, they sent me another from the same batch and it had to go back too. They sent me a new rifle from a new batch and it's been perfect. Not a single problem.

Don't muck around any more, your rifle's faulty, just get them to replace it.

Judders, do you know what year your rifle is? I think there is a date sticker on the box. Would be interesting to find which dates/(partial) serial number ranges are affected. Also, was it the 'classic' or tactical?

At a guess, I'd say 2012, but I'll check the box for you later this morning and confirm. It's a 'SWAT' model.

Just checked and the box is marked with '04-Dec-2012'.
My serial number starts with: 32A0032..

You're doing the right thing by sending it back. A rifle that doesn't work as intended is no use to anyone. I'm sure you'll have no problem getting a refund/credit, at the end of the day it's just not fit for purpose.

As far as I know, no work has been done on this rifle. I certainly didn't send it back to have work done, I returned the faulty rifle and got a new one.

I insisted on a replacement, as I wasn't about to hand over hundreds of pounds for something that required 'work' to make it function as it should have in the first place. Of course, they could have worked on it before sending me the new rifle, but it certainly doesn't look like it's been worked on it any way, so I'll never know for certain.

Looking at the quality of the "machining" (grinding) it should be fairly obvious if they have attacked it with a file. I've spoken again to the shop today, asked for a replacement - ideally the tactical as this should hopefully be from a different batch.

That was my thinking too. I had a look earlier and I'd say that it hasn't had any work done.

I've spotted a nice private sale on guntrader. Hopefully:

a) I get my FAC through quick enough to snag it
b) It's old enough not to have this problem

Some guys on other forums tend to blame the magazines for the misfeeding of rounds into the Sig522 chamber. Black Dog came up with a modified follower which increased the angle of presentation of the round and these were sent out free of charge to owners who were experiencing problems. Black Dog seem to have a good reputation for customer service (if you live stateside) but that's not what I've found when I contacted them. I offered and fully expected to pay for the followers and for the postage but no joy.
It seems that once they have your cash ... you are on your own, particularly if you live on the UK side of the pond.
