1900 Long Lee

#1 Post by Jon B »

I have a 1900 Long Lee for sale, it is with Paul at Thames Valley Guns, details below are from his web site, pictures on the site.

Long Lee Enfield .303 No1*- 9225

Summary
This No1* was Manufactured in BSA in 1900. Its overall condition can only be described as superb. Although manufactured by BSA the rifle has been with marked with a South African stamp and has the Queen Victoria crown. The rifle was fully restored by TVG in 2013.

Receiver
Metal work is very good with no damage and blueing is 95%. Markings are limited to the Crown, manufacturer, model, serial number, UK proof marks and inspectors stamps. There is no wear to the receiver and the bolt cycles smoothly without any excess movement.

Bolt
The bolt has been gauged for correct headspace and firing pin protrusion. Bolt face is excellent and unmarked, Bolt head together with the bolt body, have the customary proof marks. The bolt has an incorrect matching number with the receiver but this can be rectified at the buyers request. The bolt is fitted with the customary dust shield but one of the lugs has fractured which is typical of this model. It does not effect the bolts safety or function. The cocking piece is original and is fitted with the rifles safety catch which is correct for this model.

Barrel
The barrel is a five groove model with an a slightly worn bore as would be expected for a 114 year old rifle. The rifling is starting to round but otherwise is in good condition with no pitting. The muzzle is undamaged and foresight blade is fixed. All the metalwork retains its original finish.

Woodwork
The furniture is walnut and is very good condition. The are some fracture marks but there have all been repaired. The butt is marked with the initials “JHB” and is marked with the South African stamp. The rifle and the fore end is fitted with long range volleys sights. Woodwork is fitted correctly and nothing is loose.

The rifle is fitted with a piling hook and it fitted with a correct pattern reproduction sling

Price: £699.00
