There are many rifles which are capable of going out to the magic 1000-1200 yds, you do not have to spend a lot of money either.
What is really important is that you do not compromise, eg this rifle will do to 600 but not 1000 if that is what you really want.
Before deciding on a rifle, get your head around cases, bullets, powder, which combination is capable of getting you out there?
What is available in the area you live in?
Then look at which rifle that combination works best in.
That is how I would approach it.

That must be some of the clearest advice I have ever received. I think I'll start my reading /research over again and make a few lists so I know which direction to go in. tesnews
Knowing me it will probably be to one side or the other of the mainstream types.
The other thing to remember is you do not need to spend an absolute fortune to get out to 1000 yards and even more. As an example a Fox Firearms 'scope is probably still under GBP120 delivered and will give admirable service, more to the point if it does not, speak to Brian and he will exchange it on the spot.

I have a scope from my CZ425 Varmint that I can use, it is an MTC Viper 6-24x56IR. I get on with it well but have read mixed reviews about it on the web for use with distance shooting.

It's your experience with it that counts...
