I was told it's practically impossible to wear one out ... Damage however is another thing !

I thought this would be hard work, it was a simple question. I haven't worn one out, I'm a lefty and would like to build a bench rifle with a 10rd magazine, I've a RH CZ452 Varmint, CZ make a LH 452 but it's only available with their std barrel. I've spoken with Edgars who tell me that you can't order a special, the 455 is unlikely to be available with a LH bolt in the very near future hence my question.

Apparently it can be a bugger to get off but it's easy enough to re-barrel. It's just a threaded barrel, 19mm x 1.25.
A friend of mine did his own and it seemed to shoot great, he knackered is old barrel getting it off though, reckoned it was cheaper than bending the receiver. It was his 1st real go at threading on his Super7 too, but the GM barrel blank had plenty of spare metal for messing up.

Re barrelling is expensive and needs to be done by skilled smith. Also if you are shooting from a bench you should use a single shot adapter not a 10 round mag. David.

Spooky, that's exactly the same spec I'm after.
Although I love CZs, have ruled them out after getting the same answers as you.
Trawling the rimfire forums, rebarrelling an Anschutz might be an option. I've even found a link to gluing in barrels from here in the UK. http://njshooting.tripod.com/FITTING%20 ... BARREL.htm

I've already owned a 64 actioned rifle and was less than impressed TBH, also the stock (s) I'm thinking of using are not available for the Anschutz action.
