Advice - full sized 22lr
Folks,
I want a bolt action rifle to practice shooting off sticks. It needs to be as close to a full sized rifle in size and weight, as possible.
Any recommendations?
Cheers

Find yourself an Anschutz 54 1970s vintage with a full length heavy target barrel .

My Sako Finnfire with heavy varmint barrel feels like a "proper" rifle.
Re: Advice - full sized 22lr
For full size got to be Sako Finnfire... Love mine...
SAKO FINNFIRE HUNTER
Finnfire Hunter is a premium grade 22 rimfire rifle featuring a Sako 75 style selected walnut stock perfectly fitted to the action. The match grade cold hammer-forged barrel is completely free floating to enchance the Finnfire's legendary accuracy. The bolt has 2 locking lugs and the opening angle is only 50 degrees. Straight feeding magazines (for 5 or 10 shots). Trigger pull is adjustable from 1 to 2 kg.

What about a military 22 trainerScot-Gun ?
The Mauser/Mas 45 was designed to get recruits used with weight & size of the batlle rifle.

Ruger 77/22. Full size stock with 13.5" length of pull, 24" barrel, 43" overall length, weighs 7.5lbs...
Another "well kept secret" of the UK gun market. Great quality, accurate and uses 10/22 magazines.... Very reasonably priced. A giood second hand one will probably cost around 300 - 350.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: Advice - full sized 22lr
Scotsgun, due to a trapped nerve in my neck which makes holding a rifle for more than thirty seconds while standing very painful I have used sticks for a couple of years now. For what it's worth I would say get your sticks and practice, practice and more practice with a centre fire rifle. A .22 is great for getting the aim and the stance kinda sorted out but it's a whole different ball game when it comes to shooting off sticks.
Give it a go, if you have a .22 then fire a few rounds from it and then do the same with a centre fire rifle and you will see what I mean. You'll find that even the way you will hold the rifle on the sticks will be different with each rifle as will the way you stand will be. Might be different for you, just my tuppence worth is all.

Have a look at BSA on gun sites. They are cheap and reasonably accurate. David.

depending on what you want to spend.
I have a hall custom repeater action in an AICS stock with a Krieger barrel, (all work done by Norman Clark).

Thanks for the advice folks. I'll have a butchers at the recommendations.
Blu. I regularly stalk with sticks but recently missed a shot that I really shouldn't have. So practice for me.
