Re: Phoenix 2014 - Entry is open!
User702, I would use the Schultz & Larsen and shoot it in F Open under S Class rules.
Re: Phoenix 2014 - Entry is open!
well I was planning on going and was trying to find accomodation, then realised that the fees are back up to the normal, despite the reduced fees for SAW this weekend
wont be bothering. entry fees are a joke for a lot of the comps, nearly 12 quid to shoot 24 rounds!!!
1500 and bianchi are far better value, but still the fees are ridiculous in my opinion

Ovenpaa, I don't think I've seen that rifle. Maybe next time I'm over...?
Tony, I'll admit that the fees are high, but this is one of the few times I get to shoot a national comp, so I'm prepared to accept the cost. Plus which, I get to meet a lot of fellow shooters and have some fun for a weekend!

Did you enter the SAW?
Phoenix Prices have been held over to last years levels. The Phoenix is a much more complex meeting to a GRAW and the next NRA organised GRAW will be the Nationals at the End of August where the prices will be the same as the SAW.
If you want lower entry fees the following Gallery Rifle meetings are available before the Phoenix:
ATSC Open - 12/13 April (held at Bisley)
Basildon Open - 26/27 April (At Basildon's ranges)
Mattersey 10 - 4th May (At Mattersey)
Frome Western Winner - 9/10 May (At Bristol & District)
Details of all these available on the Galleryrifle.com website. Entry fees for the ATSC and Basildon are particularly cheap for the GR events.
Re: Phoenix 2014 - Entry is open!
And not forgetting the JSPC Open over the weekend of the 19/20 April - up at Galashiels.
Re: Phoenix 2014 - Entry is open!
thanks for the heads up, no I didnt enter SAW, my wife working 3 weekends in a row and simply couldnt make it, I had seen the reduced fees and foolishly assumed that they would be the same prices for the Phoenix, thus getting me interested and deciding to make plans for that event, thats my error
I was just a bit bemused to see that the fees were different.
I wanted to try and do the Phoenix as a social and weekend away, having small shooting budget and a family means that I need to make what money I can spend, go as far as possible.

Re: Phoenix 2014 - Entry is open!
As a substitute I'd recommend the ATSC Open then. 12-13 April, full use of Melville ranges, 1500s at a Tenner, shorts events at a Fiver. Plentyof the usual GR shooters going to be there and there may even be an impromptu England-Wales head to head match taking place. You ain't going to get cheaper than this for a fully classified GR shoot on the circuit this year.Tony-c wrote:I wanted to try and do the Phoenix as a social and weekend away, having small shooting budget and a family means that I need to make what money I can spend, go as far as possible.
Nothing much else out of the ordinary going on at Bisley that weekend so an over night booking in ABC lines easy enough.
