Re: The 1500
That's a kind offer thank you - but between now and the Phoenix I've got 3 trips to Bisley, and my nephew has very inconsiderately decided to get married; which including the stag do interrupts 2 full weekends!
Hopefully see you at the meeting

Re: The 1500
HI
Being the Jurassic shooter I am I remember when the 1500 was shot with what it was meant to be shot with i.e. revolvers and semi auto pistols in the derivatives such the 'off duty' matches. Without coat hangers bolted to the grips. Some members may recall.
Now I have a yen to return but, due to an accident I am unable to adopt the match 2 kneeling or match 3 sitting and kneeling. What do the rules say for such as I or do I need to stay with police Pistol 1 and Service pistol. (I still refer to them as their original designations.) Yup an old phart you guessed it!!!
The NRA (USA) whose 'game' the 1500 really is say that the next weakest position should be adopted. So Match 2 would be 6 left, 6 left then 6 right. Match 3 would be 6 left,6 left,6 left then 6 right.
Help please
Thanks

Re: The 1500
I'm sure I read about 'deferring to the next weakest position' recently (unless it was another discipline?) - but I've just had a look through the Gallery Rifle and Pistol Handbook, and there's nothing in there about it, either in the general rules about positions or the 1500 specifically...

The Rulebook is here

A3.3.9
A competitor who has a physical disability (temporary or permanent) which prevents the use of a position specified in the event conditions may assume the next most difficult position instead. The CRO and the Meeting Director must be informed before the start of the event
The following substitutions are among those permitted:
a. The Sitting position instead of the Prone position
b. The Kneeling position instead of the Sitting position
c. The Standing position (strong or weak shoulder) instead of the Kneeling position
d. The Kneeling Unsupported position (either on two knees or on one knee without resting the elbow on the knee) instead of the Standing position

Re: The 1500
Neil, what if the competitor can't shoot weak shoulder due to eyesight problems that can't be corrected by glasses and can't get their strong eye in line with the scope on their weak shoulder? Any options?

Re: The 1500
No - no options - you can't do it. Actually with a scope this is possible to do by offsetting or setting the scope high - I know people who do it. Shooting iron sights its impossible though.Mike357 wrote:Neil, what if the competitor can't shoot weak shoulder due to eyesight problems that can't be corrected by glasses and can't get their strong eye in line with the scope on their weak shoulder? With situations like this you just have to accept the event is not for you. Plenty of other things to shoot.
Re: The 1500
I'm going to have another go at the 1500 this weekend...
...I've been practicing my left-handed shooting, which is getting better if I take my time time - I've got a timer, and stuck some mags back to back to make loading quicker - And I've been practicing using 7 and 5 rounds in the mags (good tip thanks
) to save time on re-cocking...
...if I don't improve on my last score, I'll give up!
