Good Afternoon from Sunny Lincolnshire

#1 Post by Always learning »

I have been shooting full bore rifles for about 25 years and still have a lot to learn. My main interest is Deer Stalking though I have been to Bisley a few times. I have 2 Sauer 202's in 7 x 64 and 9.3 x 62.

Welcome to the forum, do you use the 9,3x62 here in the UK? Some forces seem to pull a face when they here it mentioned.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

A friend has just made me aware that Remington are recalling all Mod 700 and Model 7 rifles produced after May 2006 with XPM triggers.

DO NOT USE - DANGER OF DEATH!

Please see link below

If others have already made members aware I apologise

I use it quite often in the UK particularly for shots less than 150yds. Unfortunately there are very different approaches taken by neighbouring forces. I wanted mine for a number of reasons. My 7mm blows the foreend of a Muntjac apart. The lower velocity 9.3 performs well with little damage. I use it on roe successfully, again no damage but the animal does not run either. Fortunately the Lincs firearms department have always been very helpful and professional. I used the Speer Reloading manual 11 to demonstrate that the 9.3 is a very versatile calibre. It specifically mentioned that it was a good rifle for roe.

Regrettably there does appear to be a lack of understanding particularly in the Home Office Guidance which suggests the 9.3 should be only used on Dangerous Wild Game (classified as Lion elephant rhino etc) Wild Boar are classified as Large Game so the 9.3 is not recommended! A bizarre decision given the fact that it is very popular on the continent for boar. I certainly would not want to shoot dangerous wild game with it however as I value my hide!

Thanks Alan - I used to be a member of the Oundle Pistol and Rifle Club and have fond memories during the days when one could own handguns.
