IPSC Shotgun question
Hi,
I am shooting IPSC shotgun and rifle here on the continent. Used to live in the UK and do have some friends there which we visit every once in a while. Have the idea of combining such a visit with a shotgun match.
I did meet some shooter from the UK some while ago and they told me that there is a minimum lenght for shotguns in the UK right? Can anyone let me know whats the minium is?
Also as with 5kg of amo on a plane you dont get far at a shotgun match is there any way to get amo in the UK? Do they sell match amo at matches and if yes which brands do you normally get? Coult bring Buck and Slugs as 5kg should be enough for that but no way to get enough birdshots.
Thx a lot for the info

Re: IPSC Shotgun question
Semi-auto and pump-action shotguns require a minimum barrel length of 24" and a minimum overall length of 40". If they have a removable magazine or a fixed magazine of greater capacity than 2 cartridges, they are Sec 1, for which a firearms certificate (FAC) is required. Slug also requires a FAC but shot loads needs only a shotgun certificate to purchase, much more readily obtainable and cheaper. I think that f you get in touch with someone before the match they could obtain for you some ammo which you know will work with your gun.

i prefer to shoot open. meaning my MKA would be too short but the Saiga would be long enough then. I was thinking about using my mossy 500 as there amo would not matter that much like with a semi but have to measure the barrel first. I guess its 60cm so should be fine.
do you know if the EU firearms pass is valid in the UK? Here I just need the pass and an invitation from the match in order to cross the border. was never outside of Schengen with a gun tho.
Re: IPSC Shotgun question
It appears from a quick Google that you will require a correctly endorsed Visitors' Firearms Pass for your gun and slug shells, and a Visitors' Shotgun Certificate to purchase shotshells (for which no endorsement is required). https://basc.org.uk/firearms/visiting-the-uk-to-shoot/FritztheMoose wrote:do you know if the EU firearms pass is valid in the UK? CM is on the money However if you simply contact whichever organsation is running the match (if you shoot IPSC matches then that will be the UKPSA), and they will walk you through everything you need to do, if not do it for you
