Couldn't agree more - but then the same argument applies to just about anything - for eg my wife, the novelty of having one has definately worn off ;-)

To my understanding Neal from Suffolk Rifle Co tried to bring a few in awhile ago for S&W 15-22s. however, either the HO or his FET damned it straight away, sadly I can't remember the specifics, but they did give him an adamant no.

As an aside, you need a fairly light trigger for the slide fire stock to work on a .22.

Works well with the CMC trigger, 22plinkster on youtube has a vid of his.
Would the next best thing to a slide-fire be a very light double trigger in the style of those you get on paintball markers? You'd need to cut the trigger guard on a 15-22 though.

I'm not sure anyone's done that for years mate
You could go the whole hog and swap it out with an electronic trigger group. Micro-switch trigger, linear actuator on the sear, optical detection of a reset hammer, ramping board if you're feeling adventurous
