10/22 - what aftermarket trigger

I was looking at the choice of after market triggers for the 10/22 recently and the prices certainly provoked a sharp intake of breath. Can people recommend a trigger that is a reasonable compromise between performance and price please.

Kidd drop in kit. Works a treat. Use your original trigger housing. Designed for polymer housing as they are more consistent tolerances but I run them in polymer. Old cast ruger and even the billet anodised housings from tactical innovations

I've had a Kidd on order for a couple of months, looks like its going to be another 2 months still. Best trigger I've tried on a 10/22, well worth the wait.

Currently have a Volquartsen parts kit fitted and it's terrible for the cost!

If you go on Rimfirecentral.com there's a wealth of info on improving the standard trigger. You can do wonders with 1200 grade wet & dry, my trigger is nice and slick. When I tried some AR .22 clones I thought the safety catch was still on, they were so heavy compared to my reworked 10/22 trigger.

If you go on Rimfirecentral.com there's a wealth of info on improving the standard trigger. You can do wonders with 1200 grade wet & dry, my trigger is nice and slick. When I tried some AR .22 clones I thought the safety catch was still on, they were so heavy compared to my reworked 10/22 trigger.

As well as Rimfirecentral, you could try getting a copy of "The Ultimate Ruger 10/22 Manual" by Mark White (£10 from Amazon). It goes into great depth on how to do a trigger-job on a 10/22, as well as lots of other tips and tweaks. I followed the instructions and (IMO) the standard trigger on my rifle is alot nicer than any of the aftermarket options I've tried.

Mine has been worked on by persons unknown and i'm happy enough with it tho' those with more expensive triggers thought it little heavy.I'd thought about a kid drop in kit but was put off because it's meant to be for the polymer housing.I did try some power custom bits and pieces but it was worse than the worked on trigger group.

Some of the grittiness of the trigger is from that spring loaded trigger stop in the trigger guard! Polish / burnish everything, your only cost is your time :-)

I agree, that if your halfway competent with tools and a moderate smattering of logic then you can get great results from the stock parts

polishing, stoning as well and drilling and tapping etc, all stock parts I got my last trigger to 1.5lbs and breaking sweetly, total expense zero, just time and effort

Get a 2 stage KID and cry once! VQ ones are similarly priced and have the same architecture as a standard Ruger one, albeit with better components. They also seem to vary. I had one that had a really crisp break and another that I wasn't happy with. A halfway house would be the drop in KID unit that others have suggested. +1 to polishing the reset plunger/hole.
