Im going back to the range Tuesday, ill clean everything and check the casings and see how it goes, and if its still giving me grief ill come back on hear for more help.

Excessive dry firing can swage a small portion of the chamber rim leaving a burr that can grab a case going in and/or coming out.
Often extractors need work and the feed ramp may need a slight bit of polishing.

A detailed description of what actually happens would be helpful.

From what I've seen for real on in the virtual net, there's your problem right mthere..... On the whole the things don't seem to perform. Far too much fettling required and far too many issues. There are some that do run reliably, but they appear far and few between and when they are come across, they seem to be the excuse to continuing perserverance....

Take everything off that you've put on, replaced or upgraded. Start testing again replacing or upgrading just one aspect each testing session. Hopefully, you will come across the problem. That's considering it ran properly when new out of the box the way CMMG intended....

If the problem is 'fail to feed' and 'fail to eject' and not fail to fire then the problem is not the triggers/hammer springs. If a properly chambered round is igniting then look elsewhere for the problem, if you are getting light strikes it could be the trigger/hammer springs but it could also be a chambering issue.

Failure to feed or eject can also be caused by issues with the springs of the fire control group. The bolt, during recoil still has to overcome these springs as well as the recoil spring during the recoil impulse and return. Incorrect weight, length, diameter can all cause issues., especially as a lot of the spring upgrades/complete FCG are designed for full bore ARs in either "duty", "competition", "tactical" or "full auto" configurations.

Even the JP Enterprises 2.5lb trigger/hammer/disconector springs are described on the bag as "Reduced Reliability"....

As the problem existed before the trigger springs were replaced the odds are that they are not the problem.

If the 'fire control group' springs are too light then a fail to fire is likely as not enough energy is imparted onto the firing pin to get reliable ignition.

If the 'fire control group' springs are too heavy then a fail to eject and fail to feed is possible as not enough energy may be produced by the .22lr ignition to overcome the spring forces so that the bolt does not travel fully to the rear to eject the fired cartridge and re-cock the hammer.

The potential reduced reliability with JP Spring Kits is associated with the ignition of primers and not bolt operation, it is also specific to centre fire not rim fire ammunition.

Once installed, this spring setup will give good ignition reliability with domestically manufactured ammo and properly seated primers. Do not use foreign-manufactured ammunition because the primers in such ammo are often extremely hard and will give poor ignition with this spring kit.

Just passing on what I came to learn after speaking with JP, Brownells tech and couple of on line 'smiths after I had an utter cow in drop of reliability after fitting JP springs in my Smith.

After being fairly reliable (as far as .22's go) my GSG5 started FTF quite cronically, 2-3 every magazine examples;











Took it down the range yesterday and started systematically eliminating possible causes, obviously the last thing I had to try on the list was what fixed it :roll: - Cleaning the magazines! Although there wasn't much material in them it was enough to cause the FTF's. Once cleaned everything was back running properly If your mags are new, get them stripped and remove any storage grease etc, you never know, it might be the easiest/cheapest thing that fixes it!
