As above, no need to spend £1500 on what is basically two metal tubes and a bit of wood

The best one will be the one that fits you properly, go get measured/fitted by a decent shop and see what they have, try as many as you can.

I have a couple of Hatsans, a Benelli and a Remington, the Hatsan O/U fits me the best and hits around 90% of what I aim it at, no better or worse than the much more expensive Miroku I had in the 90's.

Thanks so far. The reason the budget's a little high is because not only am I looking for capability, I also want a bit more craftsmanship (but not necessarily in the 'ornate' department). The Beretta 682 Gold E mentioned is as about as ornate as I want.

Beautiful wood, plain (ish) lines and minimal gold. :good:

ETA: The 692 is a good example of the styling/detail level I'm after:

What discipline are you going to shoot trap, skeet, sporting?

For sporting

I have a MK38 great gun and for a grade 5 pice of wood around £1100-£1500 today.

Also a Winchester select is a decent gun for the money.

Semi autos are good for sporting to got to have a semi auto in the cabinet :good:
