Well before we all get carried away with how survivable being attacked by nuclear devices is we should perhaps reflect on the fact that the bombs dropped on Japan had a yield of:

Hiroshima 15 kt
Nagasaki 21 kt

Compare this to a Trident warhead:
One British Trident warhead is estimated to have a yield of 100 kilotons. This is 8 times the yield of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima and 4.5 times the yield of the bomb dropped on Nagasaki.

And both the USA and Russia have developed and tested devices with yields measured in Megatons. Perhaps we should also reflect on exactly what a megaton iin the context of nuclear devices.
The explosive power of hydrogen bombs, by contrast, is frequently expressed in megatons, each unit of which equals the explosive force of 1,000,000 tons of TNT.

Did U.S. use neutron bomb in Battle of Baghdad?
By Gary Wilson
Published May 5, 2007 12:35 AM

The U.S. military used neutron weapons in the Battle of Baghdad, says a former commander of Iraq’s Republican Guard. And at least one retired U.S. Army officer is backing up his charge.

In an April 9 interview reported by Al Jazeera, Saifeddin Fulayh Hassan Taha al-Rawi says that, “U.S. forces used neutron and phosphorus bombs during their assault on Baghdad airport before the April 9, 2003, capture of the Iraqi capital.”

The bombs incinerated about 2,000 elite Republican Guard troops but left the buildings and infrastructure at the airport intact, he added. (aljazeera.net)

Although neutron bombs are commonly believed to "leave the infrastructure intact", with current designs that have explosive yields in the low kiloton range, the detonation of which, in a built up area, would still cause considerable, although not total, destruction through blast and heat effects out to a considerable radius.
If a Neutron bomb had been used in Iraq CTBTO monitors as well as most Military surveillance agencies would have picked up the blast, even if it was a tactical device. The Russians would have been on it like a tramp on chips!.

Agreed with that (but not if it was used at the time Putin had the USA in front of him on bended knees pleading for more timeto be relelcted so he could do some dodgy deals that favoured Russia).
