Private Message
I've been notified I have received one, but I can't access it - I see a message I don't have authority and it may be because I have just registered (I haven't, it was a few months ago).
Do I need to tick any boxes or fill in something?
Many Thanks

You need fifteen meaningful and contributory posts to become a full member and be able to use the forums full facilities. It gives you time to familiarise yourself with the board conventions.

Re: Private Message
I was told recently that the moderators can read the Private Messages - is this true or a malicious rumour?

Re: Private Message
There is no way for moderators to read PM's on a phpbb in standard form.
However it is possible for the site admin to do so if they know their way around MySQL and can find the appropriate tables, and construct an appropriate query..For some reason the developers behind phpbb haven't encrypted these for some reason..

Re: Private Message
Hi,
I can understand the 15 post rule and it does make sense. I have just received two notifications of PMs, but can't access them. Is there anyway to get read-only access to them (or someway to prevent them being sent to my inbox until I can use it)?
Kind regards
Gareth

Re: Private Message
Nope, but your notification should tell you who they are from and you could put posts up asking them to contact you by email.
Most members have been through the 15 post convention and should know better than to try and PM you anyway.

Re: Private Message
Hi,
I got a pm last night, and been in a conversation with another member, and then went to respond today but now it says I do not have authority to respond or view private messages? Please can you let me know why this is?
Thanks

I have changed your status to Newly Registered Users as your posts were deemed non contributory.Dr.D wrote:Hi,

Once satisfied that your posts are contributory I will move you to Registered Users and then you will be able to use the PM system.
