I bought a Ruger 77 22 yesterday and it has a scope attached that I cannot find on the internet. I suspect that it is at the cheap end of the range but any information would be welcome. The make on the side looks like EI and then an "E" reversed?

Re: What scope is this?
Edgars sold own-label scopes for several years under two names - Edgar Bros Opti-Mate and Opti-Too. The former was the high-grade range made by one of Japan's better manufacturers under contract; the budget Opti-Too range was likely Chinese.
Both ranges date from a few years ago now and haven't featured on EB's listings for a long time, so I doubt if you'll find much out about your scope. FWIW, the Opti-Mates were excellent scopes for those looking for high quality 'traditional' target etc optics, one-inch tubes and many of them fixed power models with relatively small dia. objective lens. The target models were in effect copies of the Weaver T24 and T36 and similar, in size, weight, and specification at least.
The budget range was very much in the same quality and price bracket as contemporary Chinese manufactured Hawke models and similar. Nothing at all wrong with them provided they weren't subjected to too much weather, abuse or heavy recoil. Perfectly suited to rimfires and less demanding centrefire sporting shooting. No doubt, a percentage were quickly found to be faulty and exchanged - Chinese optics manufacturing quality control has come a long way in the 10 or 15 years since their products first appeared.
After the Opti-Mate / Too ranges, Edgar Bros dropped its own-brand scopes and now does Weaver and Bushnell. I was told that the Japanese manufacturer's prices had risen to the point where it wasn't a commercial proposition anymore.

Re: What scope is this?
Thanks Laurie
I have just spent some time on google and haven't found anything of value, certainly nothing like the info in your post. sign92
The rifle is a 2006 model according to the serial number and I suspect the scope has resided on the rifle since then.
The rifle and scope have seen little use and both are in near mint condition. At £150 for rifle , sling and scope I can't really grumble smile2
