As techguy said, he has an Armscor and another bloke in the club has an Alfa. The Alfa is as described.... Poor. The one in our club has been back once, possibly twice for repairs/fettling.

As dyed in the wool hand gunner that I was, and even having owned a couple of LBR's, I wouldn't be buying either an Armscor or Alfa. Honestly, I would rather have an Uberti replica in my cabinet for "pistol" shooting.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Yes - that's what we have found. Although I've only seen it so far in the Alfa.

Just had a look at that BBS and found this wee gem.

The tank-like projectile is called a sabot. They cannot be homemade, only bought and they are not cheap.
This style of rifle is called an in-line muzzle-loader, and bears absolutely no similarities to traditional muzzle-loading firearms, apart from the fact that they both use BP - and, of course, any of the subs.

So apart from leisure/club shooting/plinking, there is nowhere that you would be able to shoot it here in UK in any form of competition - the MLAGB is for tradional BP long and hand arms, not for inventions of the 1980's.

You might try and convince your FEO that it is a suitable firearm for the taking of deer, but they are not exactly long-range shooters - so good luck on that.

The Ardesa percussion carbine is a nice little brush gun and general fun gun. Just as much fun can be had a lot cheaper with a s/h Parker-Hale Musketoon, which is at least totally made in England, and is a perfect repication of an original artillery carbine of the WoNA era. Mine was bought new in 1972, and is a great little shooter with not a lot of powder - 45gr of FFg works well at 50m.

My local gun dealer has half a dozen of them - all at around £200 - 250 mark. I'd be happy to own any of them.

This fella doesn't know squat about hunting with inline muzzle loaders nor is he right about sabots can't be home made. He comes across as a bit of a plonker

Nah it wasn't our Niel tongueout . The whole post just struck me as smacking of the holier than thou BS. The guy goes on about inlines not being much good for hunting deer, now I've never hunted with a traditional muzzle loader but I've owned a couple in my time and I have to say that when it comes to hunting, well for the best part of the time, for distance and accuracy a good inline will beat a traditional ML hands down.

Saying that though I also know a few guys that can shoot the traditional ML's with great accuracy. Basically it's the holier than though BS guys like this put out, it's really self defeating.

In fairness (and I'm not sure it's quite what the above poster was on about- tacfoley?) I suspect trying to get a muzzle loader conditioned for deer in this country would be an uphill struggle to say the least.

There are some good people on AGBBS (myself included, of course ;) ) but some you could really worry about. A perennial topic is "legal question that I'm pretty sure isn't legal but if I get a load of anonymous advice on the internet that's OK, right?". Or legal pedantry. Don't ever go into the off topic sections or the "members only" forum...
