Don't worry old badger, Although they changed in 71 and I came much later, I'm not in the realms where you'd be in trouble for talking to me

Re: Accuracy of Lantac...
An example of "accuracy of a baked potato"...
10 shots, 25 yards, bench rested, 12x scope...
Now, with this rifle (HK416 .22lr Umarex), if I use different ammo, I might expect *some* gains, but it's never going to shoot fantastically. The trigger has been lightened as far as I dare to go myself but still too heavy to be competitive, and the barrel itself is a couple of tubes tensioned at either end. I need something with a heavy barrel that's going to last a long time and be accurate...
Ideally, I would want the rifle to take the centre dotted line circle out, consistently...
Lantac, can you provide this...?

So are you in the market for one in .22. They are not cheap.

Re: Accuracy of Lantac...
My ability to appropriate funds towards a rifle of this "calibre" will depend entirely on 2 things.
Is it going to be worth me spending £XXXX amount of money for something that does what I want it to do (and what I want it to do is be competitive when it comes to matters of accuracy).
Am I going to be able to get another slot on my ticket.
The answer to number 2 is 99% going to be a yes. the answer to the first point, I'm still waiting on.
Lantac have a great reputation, and I've heard nothing but good things from people. The look of the rifles is immaculate but theres a severe lack of range reports when it comes to accuracy, that's all I want clearing up.
Can it shoot, almost certainly. Can it shoot to a competitive/high level, I don't know?
So Am I in the market for one? Quite possibly...

Re: Accuracy of Lantac...
I can get groups like this consistently standing unsupported at 25m with a Spikes ST-22 and an Eotech (effectively iron sights) on a 3" disc and pretty much just blasting away.
So, yeah the "HK" 416 seems a little... 'potato' if what you've shown is bench rested and a x12 scope.
I've never used a Lantac rifle. They're undoubtedly very well made but I've not been disappointed in the Spikes in either .22LR or centre fire in terms of accuracy or reliability. Are you sure you really need to spend so much cash?
(3-rest, 3-rest, 4-rest):

Re: Accuracy of Lantac...
Yeah, this was bench rest.
Minimags (not the most consistent ammo), from bipod on a bench, 25 yards.
As I say, the H&K doesnt even have a solid barrel, it's not the best, it's fun to blast away with, but it's not accurate.
If I'm going to spend the money to get something, it needs to be spot on...

Re: Accuracy of Lantac...
My experience of the lantac is it is very well built and accurate but the one I shoot is fussy when it comes to ammo it fouls up and does not function as well after 50 rounds or so. But it has got all the whistle and bells and like I say is very well built it has had very little round count through it so may be its not run in yet.
Next time I have a range day I will bench it and see how it performs.

Thanks Alpha, I'd really appreciate that :)Alpha1 wrote:My experience of the lantac is it is very well built and accurate but the one I shoot is fussy when it comes to ammo it fouls up and does not function as well after 50 rounds or so. Re: Accuracy of Lantac...
FWIW I have a CMMG in 22LR with a 20" barrel, and off my elbows at 20yards I can punch out that v bull with all 10 occasionally.
very definately I can get all 10 inside the 10 ring off my elbows (and even occasionally offhand) and most often I'll get at least 7 in the v.
Mine was fussy as hell with magazines and cycling - until I bought the Lantac 22LR mags (which look similar to Black Dog Mags which I had tried) and then my problems went away.
I have a HK MP5 in 22LR (Not the GSG one but the licensed HK one) - which has a virtually identical barrel setup and it's the 2nd one I had - the first had an issue with the muzzle pulling the barrel down inside it's sleeve and was returned. The 2nd is perfect - so the thought occurs - are you sure your HK416 doesn't have a defect?

I've never really thought about it really.nickb834 wrote:FWIW I have a CMMG in 22LR with a 20" barrel, and off my elbows at 20yards I can punch out that v bull with all 10 occasionally.

The build of the rifle itself just doesn't scream accuracy to this level. The barrel itself is almost paper thin... just tensioned tubes. The physics alone stand to suggest that the slightest raise in heat will start warping the thin rifled barrel inside. It doesn't even have to be much to make the kind of accuracy drop we're seeing here.
That said, I'd never thought there could be something actually wrong with it... although I don't really think there is... just not top quality components.
I wouldn't like to make claims that I'm an all-star shot, but I know that I can shoot and with a good rifle I can clear 10 spot NSRA card without any hassle at 25 yards from the bipod.
