Remington 11-87 manual cycling
I've just picked up an 11-87 special purpose super magnum extra awesome dragon rage pro (I may have gotten carried away there) and was practising loading it earlier. Strangely, when I manually cycle it the bolt always stays back and I need to release it with the loading gate, regardless of whether a new cartridge is available or not.
Is this normal for that model?
Hopefully shooting it Sunday so I'd like to make sure it's gonna be ok :-)

I've got the manual, to be honest I was more bothered about stripping and cleaning it, only realised the odd-feed afterwards :-)

...see, if ya'd got a proper semi auto they feed the first round from the mag tube inro the chamber as soon as you've let go of the round.

When the bolt is closed, there is a small catch on the outside of the receiver, above the trigger guard. Press this and you will see and hear a click. This "release" the carrier from the retard within the trigger mech and ostensibly decocks the trigger. You can then operate the bolt which will eject the chambered cartridge and return to battery chambering a fresh round.
If you've bough a second hand 11-87, I'd replace the o ring and piston ring at the earliest.

It came with a bunch of spares, I'm pretty sure there's an Oring and piston ring in there.

Check out this Forum for lots of advice, especially this sticky, how to strip and clean.
Be careful the guide rails become razor sharp and with the trigger group removed don't put your bare fingers inside, I've cut myself twice up to now.

Is it the carrier release button, on the loading port Sim? Mine's got the easy loader so doesn't have this. I'm assuming pressing the loader should do the same then.

When you manually cycle the bolt it stays locked to the rear because you haven't pulled the trigger.
