Scope for 10/22

I shoot LWSR at shorter ranges (25yds or less).

What would be a decent, reasonably priced scope for LWSR competitions?

I am thinking, max 12x

Hawke are OK for the money, but I've found that without an adjustable objective it's difficult to focus both the cross-hair and the target together...

...I've just replaced the Hawke scope on my Marlin with a Bushnell Trophy XLT 4-12x40 AO - It focuses really nicely between 10 and 50 yards even at max magnification...they might be 3 times the price, but I wish I'd got something of similar quality from the start...

Have you tried any of the Hawke with AO Dougan? I've got one and have no complaints about it, though I've not got anything more expensive compare it to

All depends on your budget. Used something like a simmons wtc 4-16x50 is a good useable scope.
I run all different scopes. Nikko stirling nighteater isnt a bad scope. About 85 used or about 140 150 new
You need px adjustable and something clear down to 10m.
bushnell are nice. I have bushnell and burris scopes on pistols.
i would advise trying out different scopes. I prefer simple duplex over fussy lrx christmas tree reticles.

Yes, one of our club rifles has one - It is good for the money, but I still found that I (maybe it's my failing eyes?) couldn't get both the hair and the target crisply focused at maximum magnification - I think the trick with cheap scopes might be to get more magnification than you need...i.e if you need x12, then get x16, and it should focus well at 12...

...to be honest, I've only been using scopes the last 5 or 6 years (since taking up Gallery rifle) and have already made some mistakes...so this time I just wanted a known 'good' scope for Gallery...

That's a good point on the magnification, mine's always better when dialed back a bit from maximum, also improves the eye-relief immensely!
You're not gonna go wrong spending more on proven better scopes, if you can spare the cash.
