Notice in this Photo your mains supply and transformer in the background, did you have to pay the cost of running the supply to you?
I've a Farmer friend from the borders, who still does not have mains electricty, they want something like £38,000 to supply him, not sure of the distance though.
I was only five years old when we had the electric put in.
I suspect that it was at no cost as they were just putting the electric into the whole area then.
The quoted cost to run electricity to our residential caravan 80 yards from the transformer including one pole was £8,000 two years ago.
I would get your pal to query that cost as I suspect that they always give a high initial charge to put of the part time incomers, if it is your residence then I have heard of the cost coming down when challenged.

How much land do you have there Adam? Are you cleared to shoot on it?
We almost bought a disused church a few years ago up in the NE Scotland, it sold for £7k in the end and I'm gutted we missed it :(
Northstar, I just had a look at your weather forecast for the week. I guess you guys get much the same weather as us here in NW Michigan. Personally I don't much feel the cold and much prefer the insect free winter as opposed to really stifling hot summers. I'd say for me Spring and Autumn/Fall are my two favourite seasons.
