Tell me about cartridge belts for target shotgun
I'm attending the Traget Shotgun course at Bisely in March and one of the items I need to get is a cartidge belt. I've only ever done occasional clays with shotgun before, so this is new to me. Any who does target work got any recommendations for make of cartridge belt, or are they all much the same? Thanks.

Re: Tell me about cartridge belts for target shotgun
For target shotgun an ordinary cartridge belt will do fine as there's not a lot of fast reloading except in T&P1 stage one even then there's plenty of time.The only one i feel the the need of something faster is embassy cup and use a caddy for this.

As above. A bog standard Prodec clip belt is about as fast as you need to go for target shotgun, £25 from Norman Clarkes. If you're going into practical shotgun you might want to go for something a bit faster.
Might be some useful info here;

You can borrow one on the day, there is usually some floating about but equally on the day you can just load from the pocket.
But if you want to buy one, go for the Prodec clip as mark suggests, they're cheap as chips, easy to use and great to have a spare for when you take someone along to a shoot!
We do go through the different types of belts on the day, and you will get to have a look and a feel of them too..
I help out on the target shotgun course, so any questions feel free to PM me if you wish.

Oh, and just to add.. The NRA use Target Shotgun as an umbrella term to cover all forms of target shotgun shooting (except clays). So this covers the T&P1 style target shotgun events, as well as PSG

Thanks for the info guys, and techguy, I may well take you up on your offer of help/advice. Looking forward to to now - should be an interesting day.

Hopefully it will be!
i would suggest that a prodec belt is a good place to start, there is a lot to the sport with various different parts of it ( GR&P shotgun , Practical etc) and they are suitable for all of them though perhaps not top line equipment.

Is this the one guys?

Seems to be the only one they do, but no mention of the name Prodec.
