looking for mosin nagant rifle or mauser K98
Hi all,
looking for a Mosin Nagant sniper rifle with either PU or PEM scope.
not really bothered if its a made up one as long as its a proven shooter and not much needs adjusted on the scope.
seen a few on cgfirearms but was really looking for one from a private buyer.
i do have a pu scoped made up one one at the moment but just used it for reenacting really, shoots ok but i guess the sight neds tinkering with and i dont really know much about setting the mounts etc etc so i will ned to sell it first and get a one for one, also selling a long lee and ross if anyone interested, will add photos on the sight when i return from work later on today
ALSO got a space on my ticket for a K98 Mauser if anyone has one as well
regards

We had a PEM scoped sniper in the house for a while, in fact I think the Viking still has a spare slot in that calibre. I found the 'scope adjustment very coarse but at the end of the day it shot very well. Biggest step towards accuracy was sorting out the trigger pull for me. Once I had got the trigger down to a sane poundage it worked quite well with light ball.
These days I think I would go for a Kar98, the problem is finding one that is not a Russian capture.

He's always had some, not looked for a week or two, just have showing several, early years, all matching numbered which tend to be non russian capture. Not forgetting the Norwegian Mauser K98 in 7.62x51 as well  Not Russian capture
Re: looking for mosin nagant rifle or mauser K98
Russian Capture rifles are just that, they were taken usually on the Eastern front and many were used by the Russian equivalent to the Home Guard at the start of the Cold War, they are now being sold off. Downside is mismatched numbers, copious amounts of electro pencil work and often a different stock finish. They were also known to grind markings off.Doz wrote:Forgive my ignorance but what's the issue with Russian capture?
As far as rifles go they are fine but my preference would be for an non capture one which these days you have to pay more for.

I have a Russian capture one, bnz41
yes the bolt is electro penciled numbered but it shoots fantastic, the wood has been cleaned, you can still see the stampings etc. The original German eagles are still intact not stamped out which some were.
