BR99:- Forend with Left hand Charging Handle

#1 Post by bofor »

Hi

Any BR99 owners have the above T&N fore end fitting ?

I wondered how easy it is to fit one and do you have to "pull" out the handle to remove the fore end for stripping etc.

They are straightforward enough to fit and you do not need to remove the handle to drop the forend off however you do need to make provision for preventing the whole thing from rotating slightly either way from centre. You can do this in a variety of ways, a clamp across the rails is probably the quickest and you can also pin the upper to the forend with a 2,5mm ground steel pin (Costs a few pence) or add an O ring to the rear of the barrel which sort of does the job or glue a sleeve to the barrel just in front of the parallel section. I am hoping the new BR99 will have a slightly longer major (parallel) section which will mean the T&N is a direct fit. The new ones are at the Proof House right now so we should know quite soon.

When they get back from Proof which should be very soon, however I spoke to London today and they are snowed under and short staffed right now and looking for new staff so my guess is into next week now.
