Don't think I'd risk it with the amount of round failures there has been

Tisme that would be my worry as well. Periodically people say the ammunition problems are a thing of the past and then I read of yet another failure and until it is proven resolved I would not consider one which is a shame as they are a super accurate little round.

Love my HMR but would be a little uneasy with a semi auto.
??? HOW????

Apart from ammo issues by the looks of it of course.

Haven't they basically built with some kind of delayed blowback so its more like HK G3 than a normal rimfire?

Had legislation been passed after the Cumbrian shootings ACPO rep Andy Marsh had actually recommended that sub .22 rimfire calibres could be semi-auto too :o

Having seen a few double/squib load barrel blow ups recently though, i think i'd give it a miss! :run:

Strange to hear about .17 misfires. A friend has a bolt action .17 and has not had one misfire or other round problem in several years of steady shooting. She loves the rifle, very accurate.

I have a Savage .17HMR, put a couple of thousand rounds through it and never had one mis/failure to fire. Read a while back that Alexander Arms is bringing out (if they haven't done so already) an AR15 in .17HMR
