What instead of the Russian AK 22, get the one that the Romanian plant makes instead?

Pe4king had one of those rim fire CZ58s. Gone back. I believe it was shoite and illegal....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I remember them being sold, was illegal due to them being a centre fire vz with a conversion kit in? I thought if it was built out of the country from a kit that wasn't an issue? Or maybe that was just a cover to take them back without having to through the process of making them right and instead just giving a quick refund?Sim G wrote:Pe4king had one of those rim fire CZ58s. That aside, it sounds like it wasn't put together right. Never mind illegal, unsafe to the user would be my first concern. If it was doing now it was not bloody put together right. But illegal if it does, most certainly, do not pass 14 avenue, collect your money, just go to jail.Sim G wrote:Illegal as in one press of the trigger....... Empty magazine!

Sorry about that, I meant to say my first reaction to a gun I'd bought that emptied its mag on the first trigger pull would concern me of it being safe to shoot. Next would follow me wondering if the dealer had inadvertently sold me an illegal firearm, followed by a demand to either give me a firearm that isn't defective or my money back. I screwed the monopoly reference, but I'd follow that course of action to avoid going to jail as well as not getting either myself, another person hurt or worse.
I like a gun to work, a breaking in period is fine but a period where its completely broken! No, absolutely not.
There are better 22lr semi autos out there. A good project to get stuck into at this rate would a nice 22wmr that feeds reliably and has a large mag.

.22WMR 10/22 action, 12" bull barrel, hardy over barrel mod in an HTA p90 stock. Winner.

No, for the simple reason that Saiga 22s just aren't available outside of Russia due to the trade sanctions. I was looking forward to Chiappa's AK22 as an alternative but it seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Might look at Caledonian's VZ61 when it comes out instead.breacher wrote:Did you ever make your AKS 74 clone ?Swifty Boy wrote:I would like to get another Saiga 22 because a) I'm greedy like that and b) I'd like to turn the AK103 type into an AKS74 replica seeing as I have converted an AK74 magazine with a .22 insert to work with my AKM version.
Supposedly Tenbury Guns can order from Kalashnikov Concern and Jack was checking on prices and availability for me. No news yet so I shall have to chase up. Supposedly they are going to use the Saiga 22 as a 'youth-training' rifle in Russia so hopefully they will be available for some time yet.
Just asking as I have come across a brand new unissued AK74 mag in Bakelite...................
