best practical shotgun

Re: best practical shotgun
Still not heard if the Stoger M3K will be coming to the UK anytime soon.
If had the cash and time to build it, I'd have a Remington Versamax with a 24" barrel and 10+1 magazine. They only come to the UK in 28", but they're a heavy gun, so weight loss would a serious goal, big lumps of alloy out of the loading port etc.
Even got to shoot one last year.

There was a guy using a Stoeger on Sunday, had nothing but issues!
Re: best practical shotgun
Wonder if some of the "sparkling reviews" of it in the US publications are as valid as some of the UK "reviews"; lots of tie-ins with advertising deals in said publications, all but killing off any hope of neutrality.Demonic69 wrote:There was a guy using a Stoeger on Sunday, had nothing but issues!

What sort of issues? They're a pretty simple shotgun...Demonic69 wrote:There was a guy using a Stoeger on Sunday, had nothing but issues!
Re: best practical shotgun
I've had it happen to me once before with my Stoeger, and it was actually an accidental bump-fire. I've tried to do it again on purpose, but failed!
There's a discussion about it on this page of brian enos forum:

Re: best practical shotgun
Hi All
newbie to Full-bore, but wanted to add I bought a 25 y/o hardly used (ain' they all...) S2 Mossberg 500 for £200 and had it converted to S1 by pushing out the crimp for £40, so a ready to go gun 7/8+1 (depending on cart length) for under £250 - even if they replaced the mag tube, it would only have been another £40 or so, so all in all no fuss at all and I've got a great little fun practical gun.
I was told it depends on the type of crimp and how deep it is as to whether or not they can remove it sufficiently, I may have been lucky, or it may be that the early crimps (my gun was sent off to be restricted) weren't as sharp/deep.
So I can highly recommend buying a second hand pump action as it should be easily convertible (one way or the other) at best and at worse, you've got a gun friends and family can use when you take them along to a practical shotgun shoot.
oh, and I've just bought a Stoeger M3K in a vain attempt to keep up with the big-boys, but I've not had much chance to use it yet

Demonic:
Plus, how would you choose a manufacturer: Sarsilmaz, Altay , Hatsan, Huglu etc etc etc
They build shotguns for hunting and self defence here - competitions as in the UK / USA do not happen here. Only comps are trap / skeet.
Have fun with that one, they won't have a clue what you are on about.Sometimes I'm tempted to go over to Turkey and have a chat with someone about building a proper PSG semi

Re: best practical shotgun
That's most likely the extractor, if one of them in the double feed is the fired hull in the chamber. A few in the states had a problem during low round, mine started acting up after about 2000 cartridges. Simple fix is to fit the M2 extractor and spring, about £30 in parts from Steve Pike at Shield.Demonic69 wrote:It was double feeding mostly
