VEPR 12 for practical shotgun
Is anyone using a VEPR 12 for practical shotgun? I want one and want to know what they're like reliability wise
Re: VEPR 12 for practical shotgun
My honest answer would be, if you want one, get it. If you run it in Practical and it works for you, outstanding. If you buy something else and even if it turns out to be the bestest shotgun in the wooorrrld for Practical, you will alway wonder, "What if"...

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

They're good. Open class guns aren't exactly well known for reliability in the PSG circuit.
However, the Vepr is probably the most reliable of the open guns IMHO, but they're not cheap.

Based on a RPK receiver which is thicker than a standard AK variant (1.5mm thick compqred to 1mm) and proven AK based operating system so reliability is really an issue.Cycling wise I believe low powered shells can cause some issues, these things were designed as combat shotguns and prefer buckshot and slug. That said a mate of mine has one and it cycles whatever he puts in it, but it does prefer shells with a rolled end rather than crimped.Mutiny wrote:Is anyone using a VEPR 12 for practical shotgun? Ah yes - forgot to mention the crimping is important.
As is avoiding weight on the top cover anywhere near the front. Hence my light micro red dot mounted well to the rear.
