.17 HMR - a fad now passed?

I just got the 17 hmr barrel set for my cz455 and am very happy with the results so far no complaints from bugs or charlie yet it fills the gap between my 22lr and the 223

I never saw the point of that round. Too light for coyote, even close in, and too fast for hare and gopher (meat and pelt destroyer). Added precisely nothing to what I can do with my .22LR, .22WMR and/or my .223.

My cz American is amazing,took it to short siberia one (non windy) day and was hitting a 5p peice at 200m I use the remmington tan tipiped ones that seem to be the best....hornady and cci seem not to work as well.....u can get fmj rounds too....

If i was still shooting rabbits i'd still have one. 20-120m there is little discernible elevation change so providing its not blowing a gale you can just point and click without thinking about any hold over adjustment.

I was shooting to help keep the number of rabbits on a farm at bay, and wasn't bothered about the few rabbits that weren't head shots as i dislike the taste of the meat, most carcasses just went to the farmer to feed either dogs or ferrets IIRC.

Spot on, I don't shoot many rabbits these days, but it's a good round for what you describe.
