Ammo for sako finnfire

#1 Post by Dr.D »

What ammo would you recommend for sako finnfire 2?
It is bugging me that I can put hole in hole with my mate Annie and hugs ammo, and my new sako I can't... Gun or ammo? Please say is some ammo, as my gun is only 2 months old....

Lapua Centre X or RWS R50 are worth a try
I use R50 in my original Finnfire Range that is tricked up for Sporter Benchrest
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.
All round good guy and VERY grumpy old man.

I use Centre-X in a finnfire to incredible accuracy. My dad's rifle and he shot 16 x 100/100 in a bench rest competition last year. Slipping only a few 9's all season.
I shoot a little less consistently but know it's me not the rifle.

The best thing for accuracy for it was putting a lighter trigger spring in which tightened the groups phenomenally. however, I have not seen another finnfire shoot as well as this one and there are a couple at the club...

SK Pistol Match shoots very nicely for LSR at a very reasonable price in my original Finnfire Range.

Yet to hear of a genuinely duff Sako, but never say never.

I expect that being a Scandinavian rifle, it would be designed to run Lapua/SK ammunition.

I've fitted the yo.Dave trigger spring to my finnfire, and I didn't think it made much difference due to having quite a heavy sear set up, but then I am a bit of a trigger snob!

Not sure, it's a beautifully crisp break on the trigger.

As for the ammo, it worked very well with RWS Special match too recently, Very similar group size. the limiting factor again being myself whilst testing.

Should point out, this was an original finnfire, as opposed to the mk 2 :(

We feed our club Finnfire SK or Eley Sport and never had any issues.

If you are after small groups then Elay Match or Lapua Centre-X are your friend.
