Just wondering how many rounds your able to get through without cleaning your rifle before you start getting problems I have one on the way and I'm curious, also if anyone has any advise or tips regarding the rifle it would be much appreciated.

1. Depends on ammo, some .22 is dirtier than others. I just clean it when I start to have any issues with FTF/FTE/other, or I clean it before I use it in a comp. So mine probably gets cleaned on average after about 1k rounds, but it will go on for longer without issue.

2. Get a better-mag adapter and use Smith&Wesson 15-22 magazines in it. They are by *far* the best .22 magazines on the market.

I shoot mainly CCI Standard Velocity & Mini Mags in my CMMG. I get shoot well over 2/3K before I actually need to clean the rifle.

If it was CCI Blazer then that would be reduced to every 2 or 3 rounds... I've never known a round like it. I have a sneaking suspicion that the bullets are really 40 grains of compressed coal dust, lubricated with tar.

However, in my experience shooting it in the CMMg, Blazer does work fine as well. I certainly feed couple of them without cleaning the rifle.

At the end of the day I found the CMMG very reliable. I only have an issue since I replaced a broken Receiver Frame. The bolt never closes properly (does not fully go forward) when I load the 1st round & I have to pull the charging handle 3/4 cm to then push & seat the round fully. Once I start firing, the rifle cycles perfectly.
I initially put it down to a "new part" to be broken into, but after many thousand rounds, it does not get any better.

The club has 2 of them HOS they are going to sell one and get another 10/22 the cmmg's are constantly failing where as the clubs rugers are very robust so much so that 1 had an issue last week in so far as the extraction claw snapped the first work needing done to it in 10 years other than the occasional cleaning.

I do two things which I think really helps -

1 - Use non waxed rounds - mine prefers LAPUA / SK standard.
2 - Dont overdo it with oil - it turns the carbon into a gungy build-up which causes jams.

+1 to the above. Do the same with my 15-22..
