If you shoot PS what would be the best mag size if you take into account
Weight
Size
Capacity

1 more cartridge for each time you think you might miss, more than the total number of targets on the course! lol

If you're shooting IPSC rules though you're restricted to 10+1 before the start of the stage, and afterwards none of your mags are allowed to have more than 12 rounds in. So 12 round mags would be technically ideal, or perhaps 13 so you could down load them by one to make insertion/feeding more reliable. Pointless going higher capacity than that for IPSC shotgun.

Also, going longer than 10 round mags may start to interfere with manourveability, particularly shooting over obstacles/through high apertures at low targets. I've had to shoot my gun 'gangsta style' a few times because of this 8-) A 12 round drum, if it significantly reduced the length of the mag could be handy, just how it would be held on your body in a secure, yet quick to load manner would be an issue.

Weight isn't an issue for competition shooting.

So "OPEN CLASS" not what it says, More a restricted not open class.

Not worth extending 10rd mags

Convert a Saiga 12 promag 12rd drum sounds OK but would cost to much.

Convert BR lower to take Saiga 12 mags (but loose LRBHO) anybody got a spare lower

Double stack mags of around 12 would be good. High capacity but with a shorter oal

I've been working on a mag design for double stacking rimmed cartridges (54R, 22LR and 12g) - I know now why they're not particularly common, they're a bugger to get running right.

Here's the basic gist of how it's done though:

Never had a problem with double-stacked 54r in Dragunov mags not running right......

I knew you'd be along to say that! No, neither have I had any problem with the mags I have for my Dragunov either.

What I have been having trouble with is getting a double stacked mag working in 22 and 12g - and seeing as the 20 round mags for the SVD-A ( the bullpup one - I mught have name wrong) are rare as rocking horse doo doo - then I'm having a tinker at making my own. Which brings me round to my previous point - they're a bugger etc :-)

SVU-A 20r mags are rarer than powered unicorn horn.....but not as rare as the experimental 18r Bakelite SVD mags!.What I wouldn't give for one of those.
