Don't be impatient, just bide ure time, hold ure horses,a proper one will come along,I saw 3 at the phoenix show,so they are around, and by the sounds of it you want it original don't you,not messed about with, u want it as issued! Me and 5 m8's are 30-06 buffs so if we see one ile try and remember to notify you. And in the meantime welsh arms have a sling for the p17 £20,soak it in used motor oil for 3 months and it will become supple and lose its brittle new look! And it will look the part will do the pix tonight,it was practice nite last nite, then the apprentice! Gear away bath bed!.

Re: P17 Rifle
I shoot mine out to 800/1000 yards and with the rear sight on higher elevations my cheek is all but off the rifle. I was at my local smiths one day and spotted an original P14 sniper stock with cheek piece so I asked him if he could fit it to mine. I am not too worried about the originality of mine as it is primarily a shooter and as such has been nicely tweaked to suit my needs including a cheek piece, vernier rear sight and Brindles trigger box (All easily removed) Mine is nicely scruffy and used looking and shoots very well.Alpha1 wrote:Why did you want a cheek piece fitted ?.

Re: P17 Rifle
Quite right, its all about what you want from it,I'm all for customising, but with my p17 I bought it becase of its age and condition, and that it shoots bloody well! I like having something being nearly 100 years old in its original format and still working well, and not only anything but something I enjoy using too! U get what u feel is going to be right for you........if we all had the same rifles things would get boring I feel!!!

Re: P17 Rifle
Lovely looking rifle there. I have never owned a 30-06, in fact I am not even sure I have shot one, I can see I am going to have to try one some day.
