Uberti 1858 shooting high
I've read that these were originally zero'd at 75 yards. However that means it's shooting about 2 feet high at 25y and the rear sight won't come down any lower.
Mine has the target sights and the front blade appears to be fixed via a dovetail.
Are there any off the shelf replacements available or will it be a gunsmith/machinist job?

If the rear sight is a removable blade you could try filing it down to make it lower.

I thought about it but it's really not able to go low enough.
Re: Uberti 1858 shooting high
Sounds like you need a new front sight.

Re: Uberti 1858 shooting high
The front sight needs to be made higher not lower to lower the point of impact, you can easily do this with Milliput which is easily shaped to the front sight and filed down to the correct height, a touch of sight black and away you go.
I don't think people actually read the threads here.

I used JB weld on mine, and a 18gr charge of Pyrodex. Looks a bit funky but shoots to POA now.
