Not used that myself so can't say if it contributed.

When I first found mine loose, it was a full turn away from tight, but no out of battery or split cases.

UPDATE: Finally got down range yesterday with my 15-22 with now tight nut.

Wow! What a difference. Very happy shooter.

Just need to sort out my eye sight as the red dot isn't a dot!!

I have the same issues with red dots, put a Vortex Spitfire 1x prism sight on my 15-22, it has an etched reticle and illuminates in red or green, you can also leave it off for plain black. So it works even when the battery is flat.

I'm using the Vortex Sparc II.
I shall look up the Spitfire.
Although I am thinking I also need a bit of mag for more accurate shots as my eye sight ain't great.
I'm currently asking everyone down the range for a look through their sights.

Maybe a 1-4 scope would be better, but there is also a 3x Spitfire if you want something as compact as a red dot.
