It looks stunning, and very envious as it's slashing down with rain at the moment :bad:

Thanks again rufrdr for the great Photos

Really good to be able to pack a few Guns and head for the Desert for a bit of plinking and site seeing, what type of rifle are you holding?.

I've driven various parts of California/Nevada a couple of times, it is amazing to be able to drive for ages and not see another soul. Fearfull of breaking down and without phone coverage and maybe getting lost, I stayed on the main highways though.

What steps do you take for emergencies?

It Looks like an equipment shed for the mine that is above it on the hill behind. We hiked up and went into the horizontal shaft about 100 yds but there was evidence that some of the roof had come down at sometime in the past so we backed out.

The dog is my daughter's who was my co-driver for the trip. They both came back with me.

I always go with at least one other vehicle, never alone. There was another jeep with crew along for this trip. My Jeep has tools, blankets, rations, a highlift jack, shovels, 2.5 gallons of water, a CB radio, flares, a winch, flashlights, medical kit.....we could stay out for a couple of days easily without getting too hungry or thirsty.

Never, ever go off alone in the desert or the western mountains. It happens way too often, someone does, they break down or get stuck and someone perishes. It's a big place.

The rifle is a Marlin 795 .22 semi auto that I picked up on a black Friday sale several years ago for $100. It is Marlin's cheapest version with a nylon trigger group and fiberglass stock. I installed Tech sights front and rear and a milled aluminum trigger guard and it is now an outstanding little shooter. I put a GI web .45 auto magazine pouch on the stock like an M1 carbine so I can carry two more 10 round magazines. It's got an M1 carbine sling on it. It's accurate and very reliable. Best $100 I've spent on a firearm1
